Getting ready to start their 12th season, members of the Pioneer Valley Roller Derby League held a pre-season event Friday night at the Abandoned Building Brewery in Easthampton.
EASTHAMPTON- Getting ready to start their 12th season, members of the Pioneer Valley Roller Derby League held a pre-season event Friday night at the Abandoned Building Brewery in Easthampton.
It was a chance for the skaters to meet with their fans and possibly win over some new ones, as they used a projector to show a game on the wall of the brewery.
The schedule has them playing a variety of home and away games from April to September.
Established in 2006 in Northampton, PVRD is one of the region’s premier flat track roller derby clubs. They are a 501(c)(3) non profit with men’s, women’s, all/no gender and junior teams.
The local league is made up of four teams which includes skaters and officials.
Their first bout will be Saturday, April 14 at “The Bunker,” which is located in the Florence section of Northampton at 296 Nonotuck St. The first game with be the Western Mass. Destruction team hosting the Ithaca Suffer Jets, and the second match will be United Front team hosting The World team. Doors open at 3 p.m. with the the first game starting at 4 p.m.
