Area chefs like Chef Walker Widner of the Gill Tavern has committed to doing cooking demonstrations, and the Festival’s “food court” will be dishing up garlic-laced delights of every sort.

The Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge will be preparing another Fundraising Feast.
Scheduled for two buffet-style seatings, one at 4:30 p.m. and a second at 6:30 p.m., the chicken dinner menu on Aug. 22 will feature baked chicken, macaroni and cheese, mixed vegetables, and mashed potatoes as well as salad, dessert, and coffee.
Cash donation is $14 for adults and $5 for children 12 years old and younger.

Several area restaurants are celebrating the arrival of the local harvest season with events over the next week or so.
On Aug. 25, Taylor’s Tavern on Main Street in Greenfield will be holding a Food and Farm Trivia Night starting at 7 p.m. Teams of four to six players can compete on their knowledge of local food, farming, and cuisine knowledge; the first place team will win gift certificates from local restaurants.
Bread and Butter on Cowles Road in Amherst will be holding a Chicken and Waffles Dinner on Aug. 26. The menu will include buttermilk-fried chicken paired with Bread and Butter’s Liege-style waffles as well as traditional Southern sides. A special selection of beers from Greenfield-based Lefty’s Brewing Company will also be available.

The Big E in West Springfield is hosting “Wheels and Waffles” on August 20 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
A showcase event for fans of custom, classic, or collector cars, Wheels and Waffles will be held on the Big E grounds on the Avenue of States. Those arriving in show vehicles will be treated to homemade waffles, courtesy of Head Chef Vin Calvanese of Storrowton Tavern. Beverages and snacks will also be available for those visiting the show.

The Salem Cross Inn in West Brookfield is now taking reservations for their upcoming Historic Drover’s Roast, which is to be held on Sept. 11 starting at 1 p.m.
A twice-yearly tradition that commemorates 17th century cattle drives to and from Feeding Hills, the Roast features spit roasted beef, a host of side dishes, and Salem Cross’s own homemade desserts.
