Massachusetts knitting group creates sweaters for chickens

If you think the weather has been cold lately, just think how the chickens feel. Lucky for Massachusetts estate’s poultry, a group of knitters in Milton are doing just that.

If you think the weather has been cold lately, just think about how the chickens feel. Lucky for Massachusetts estate’s poultry, a group of knitters in Milton are doing just that.

A knitting club at Fuller Village, a retirement community, took on the project after hearing about shivering chickens at the Mary M.B. Wakefield estate across the street, a Boston Globe article said.

According to the article, the knitting club based their sweaters on a design for “chicken jerseys” from England.

Though the products of the project, a dozen chicken sweaters, benefit the fowl first and foremost, an Associated Press story said the project helped one member of the club overcome her fear of birds.
